Phenolic profiling and in vitro bioactivities of three medicinal Bryophyllum plants

Bryophyllum constitutes a subgenus within the genus Kalanchoe that contains several plant species used in traditional medicine worldwide for treatment of diseases. However, little is known about phytoconstituents spp. and previous reports have pointed at their low Planta concentrations bioactive compounds. In this work, we take advantage vitro culture study phenolic compounds found aerial parts associated bioactivities. Our results show induction nutritional stress leads to an improved accumulation compounds, mainly flavonols anthocyanins, represented by myricetin malvidin glycosides, respectively. This effect B. × houghtonii, whose hydroethanolic extracts promoted highest antioxidant, cytotoxic anti-inflammatory activities. case activity, showed enhanced activity against MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cell line.
